A century ago the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) was established to promote agricultural development by creating a platform for the farmers to meet prospective buyers both local and international.
The Society's theme for 2013/2014 was "Enhancing technology in Agriculture and Industry for Food security and National growth." The five-day ASK show in Mombasa opened to on Wednesday, August 28 through to Sunday, September 01, 2013. The show attracted exhibitors mainly from the agricultural, industrial, manufacturing and services sector. The International exhibitors were drawn from China, Pakistan, Egypt, Iran, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and the eurozone.
This trade fair was beneficial to Numerical Machining Complex (NMC). Despite the challenges of a broken axle along Voi and traffic snarl ups, a group of ten representatives from NMC got the opportunity to display and demonstrate the Mavuno Water Pumps to potential buyers. NMC also had the electric drill , lathe machines and the various sizes of gears to enable the public understand what goes on at its workshop that is situated along Workshop Road in Industrial Area.
Numerical Machining Complex (NMC) is an engineering firm that aims at becoming the regional market leader in steel production, and manufacture of high quality machinery, machine tools and components through employing appropriate state of the art technology and highly skilled manpower.
NMC is a local based company. This means that anyone with a technological idea is allowed to walk through its gates and explain their need. This idea will go through research and development, cost analysis, patterning, casting, quality assurance and eventually get to the customer. All these processes involve the customer every step of the way to ensure that the product or service meets the customer's needs.
NMC has enabled Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Kenya to access tools and machinery parts at subsidized rates. The spare parts and services that would cost an arm and a leg are now a stones-throw-away from the SMEs. An SME means access to wider markets effectively and efficiently and that is what NMC endevours to facilitate as the country positions itself to the industrialized.
