is better than "i love you!" bcos,
you may not always trust the person you love but,
you can always love the person you trust.

Oh so one can be trusted but still not be faithful. It gets even more intriguing...

kuwa trusted mzee ndio muhimu kuliko kupenda bana wewe huoni ukiaminiwa unapewa kila kitu unachohitaji..
mfano: mtoto mdogo anapoagizwa dukani na mzazi wake anajisikia kuaminiwa mbaya kwa nafsi yake mwenyewe..

I half agree. If the love in question is a "familial love" or "plutonic love"i.e love we feel for parents, siblings, friends etc. However if the love is none other than the two aforemention types then it is not true that the people you can always trust are necessarily people you always love
 
I think they both serve different purposes. You can have confidence in someone's honesty(trust) even when you don't truly love them. You can love someone but deep down you know you don't trust them. If I understand your post well enough, I suppose it depends on the context, if you love the person, say ''I love you'' and if you think re-affirming your trust is what's gonna straighten things, use the phrase ''I trust you''
