Under the project, KT was in charge of building IT systems and related infrastructure including a main data center, backup center, regional center for network identification (NID), the automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS), network control system and related website.

Following the completion of the data center construction, the Korean company will operate and maintain the facilities until June 2020, the company said.
It will also accelerate its other IT projects in Africa. It has won projects to build optical fiber cable for Gabon, giga wire solutions and FTTH high-speed internet system for Botswana and security network for Angola.
With the completion of building the new ID data center and related facilities, the Tanzanian government will be able to speed up the NID project.
