Project Description
The Cassava Seed Distribution System is a pilot project which aims to test, document and promote commercially-sustainable supply chains for affordable, quality-assured cassava seed serving small farmers. This will be done through the testing of two commercially-based certified cassava seed multiplication supply chain models while attempting to establish these on a sustainable and commercially viable footing
Position summary
As leader of the project team, the Field Project Manager will be responsible for the overall success of the Commercially Sustainable, Quality assured Cassava Seed Distribution System in Tanzania project and will provide leadership and guidance to implement the project in Tanzania in a manner consistent with MEDAs philosophy and development methodology. The Field Project Manager coordinates and provides in-country management for all of the projects activities including (but not limited to) project set-up and implementation, logistics coordination, financial planning and monitoring, staff recruitment and training, and liaison with partners and other stakeholders in the project
Qualifications
Minimum seven years demonstrated experience in business or project management including: staff management, budgeting, report-writing, in agriculture or agri-business related fields
Post-graduate education in a relevant discipline: agricultural economics, business, marketing, economic development, etc.
Creative, entrepreneurial and resourceful approach to developing and marketing small businesses, preferably in the agriculture sector, with an understanding of sustainable private sector and supply chain methodologies.
Superior interpersonal and communication skills with capacity to build consensus with a broad group of stakeholders.
Ability to work with government entities, mobilize partners and facilitate alliances.
Good understanding and appreciation of gender equality and environmental issues.
Administrative and logistics experience with multiple projects
Fluency in English and Swahili spoken and written
