Just for your information, Nairobi is concentrated on an area of just 696 km square, just like one district among five districts of Dar Es Salaam. The total area of Nairobi is as big as Kinondoni district having a total area of 531 kmΒ² . .
Kampala, makes a fraction of Dar Es Salaam with the total area of 189 kmΒ². That means, Dar is seven times larger than Kampala, and three times lager than Nairobi.
Small as it is, Nairobi is a city with more than 3M inhabitant. This gives a picture that majority of people lives in slums or houses with less than 100 meter square piece of land, while in Dar the average are for a house is not less than 500 meter square piece of land.
Together with that, large area of Nairobi is reserved for wild animal park, making the total space for human being even smaller!
Even Kigali at 730 kmΒ² is 'by far' lager than Nairobi...
Next time, dont compare the vast city of Dar with a small village like Nairobi!
Nairobi should rather be compared with other smaller metropolitan like Kigali, or Kampala but not Dar Es Salaam.
Nairobi metro is about 7.5 million people.
These are areas within a few minutes to 1 hour drive of the CBD, and where many people who work in Nairobi actually live.
In some of these areas, the common man does not even know the boundaries and refers to them as 'Nairobi'.
