I thought this project was an upgrade of the current road but apparently its a completely separate road and will have its own interchanges , bridges, viaducts like the SGR

Yes na plus wana plans za ku enlarge from the current 4 lanes being constructed to 6 lanes in future with interchanges all over including one in machakos.

I think the four lane expressway + the 2 lane highway that currently exists will make it 6 lanes along Nairobi - Mombasa route ????

Think so too. Its a massive project though hope it'll commence soon.

It will start 2018, this one you can be sure it will happen.. The Americans wouldn't make that much commitment just to opt out, they have alot riding on this, this would be one of the first projects modeled like how the chinies do it in Africa, if it fails then China would be using it as an example, the Chinese will be like "look at what the Americans did, they cant be relied for a project of that magnitude"

That's not Mombasa- mariakani highway, but the Dongo kundu Bypass.

Right, I always confuse the two, those two projects connect at some point near the airport I don't know which is which
