we converge under two banners;
1) GoK should not tolerate MRC as an outfit which is linked to organised crime...
2) MRC uses reasons and artifacts not recognised by the Kenyan republic and which dont summount and justify the quest for secession.

When i listen to there leaders speak the one thing i see are a people with a right cause using wrong platforms to achieve there so needed personal needs. They claim to have there own Baraza/govt and need not politicians but from there dressing code one reads poverty and further abject poverty, they lack an education and one wonders whom theyl lead. Though some Sheiks preach MRC in the mosques, its worth to note the majority want to secede just cause the area has been marginalised for too long and in there quest they associate less with Islam but perceived economic sabbotage for lack of a better word. Its a battle for class and availability of social amenities, the perceived rich vs the poor, the dev vs the underdeveloped, the capital generators vis a vis point of utilization.
Disclaimer: 'i may be wrong hence am not putting your assertions away either, some religions contribute to radicallism'

Neither am I saying this things as an oath, but they are championing for the cause of marginalized people residing in a common area and struggling for the rights of land, housing, and social amenities. Apart from lacking capital generators, we have to really see that their culture and modes of existence has been caught up somewhere by rapid modernization which is sweeping through as the country is gearing towards swift modernization. Most of their local government apparatus has fallen into the hands of incompetent people, unable to run and maintain effectively national assets of importance as an earlier report had shown this month. Injustices committed to them can only be pointed to the past colonial hierachy, which also other areas in Kenya experienced the same in areas like bomet, Kisii, and rift valley just to name a few. Judging from History, the town since independence has had a peaceful existence save for land clashes between locals. They may disassociate from mainstream politics, but PS, realize that is where the danger lies because, they have their own "government".

we are articulating for and about the same thing with negligible variance from point of departure. actually i think we are in tandem on the core issue i.e. 1) MRC shouldnt be nursed, 2) what they experience is synonymous to other regions and theres' is no special case.

Odinga--"We can not, and we will not negotiate with MRC"

Source--Live at 9--Citizen TV, Nairobi.

A protester has died during clashes between police and a group which wants independence for the Coast region around Mombasa.
A member of the Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) died after being hit on the head by a stone thrown by a fellow protester, police say.
Police fired tear gas to prevent about 100 MRC members from entering a Mombasa court.
The court is hearing a challenge to a ban on the group.
The MRC argues that the mainly Muslim Coastal region has been ignored by the national government in Nairobi.
Prime Minister Raila Odinga this week rejected holding talks with the MRC, saying it must first drop its demands for independence.
Dozens of MRC members have been arrested in recent days, local media report.

this is the lot, ''pwani si Kenya'' that attracts the attention of the administration police. Did u attest to the dressing code of those officers? Forget the blues, the green squad in town will have MRC sing ''Pwani ni Kenya''. Limited GSU deployment for supervision. They wanted a bold police presence the orders are out.....WATCH THIS SPACE.

Hapa pana kazi.... kazi ipo..... is a sort of class struggle. naona hawa ni hatari kuliko Mungiki.

Hapa pana kazi.... kazi ipo..... is a sort of class struggle.

i agree but what they champion for doesnt go down well with all Kenyans; the authority and vision 2030 blueprint where economic reforms encompass the coastal areas. Inequality is everywhere, how did they qualify to be the second largest city in Kenya anyway? I think this lot is troublesome to say the least even though they have genuine concerns. as long as they chant secession they are DOOMED!!!! Pwani si Kenya ni somalia? They are in for a rude shock and ICC unfortunately wont listen to them.

KIBAKI WARNS MRC: Kenya is a unitary state
and calls for secession should be rejected.
Coast Province is and will remain part of
Kenya.

Ndio hiyo: nilikwambia biafran ideology minus miltary involvement. GK should institute Red alert Askari wa utawala hawataweza kuwathibiti hawa separist lobby group, ila******* GSU***

On 25th of April, 2012, during the State of Union Address, president Mwai Kibaki explicitly declares that Mombasa (MRC's stronghold) will remain as part of Kenya.

kabsar.... Mayb theyl understand why GSU are also referred to as 'Garrisson Support Unit'....hata hivyo askari tawala are quite a potent outfit considering they are a paramilitary force and the first line of defence before military mobilisation. MRC sijui wana shida gani na watajutia haya.
