Money generated from slave trade

I salute those who actively participated in stopping slave trade in the later years of the nineteenth century. They made us proud. But a simple question is this: Where did money and wealth generated from this inhuman trade go? We know from historical writings that our strong brothers and sisters ended up in farm work somewhere in America, Europe and elsewhere. But do we know where the wealth created and money generated from the actual slave transactions go? Can we trace the origins of the current wealth of individuals we know today to this money?
