Katika jitihada za kudhibiti maambukizi ya COVID19, Rais Uhuru Kenyatta ameongeza muda wa wananchi kutotoka ndani kuanzia saa 3 usiku hadi saa 10 alfajiri kwa siku 30.

Akihutubia taifa kutoka Ikulu, amesema baa zitaendelea kufungwa kwa siku 30 huku akiagiza Wizara ya Afya kukutana na wamiliki ili kupata muongozo sahihi wa kuzifungua.

Vilevile Rais Kenyatta ameongeza muda wa migahawa kufungwa ambapo kuanzia kesho itafungwa saa mbili badala ya saa moja kama ilivyokuwa awali.

Pamoja na hayo Rais pia amezitaka Wizara za Michezo na Afya kuandaa muongozo wa pamoja ili kurejesha shughuli za michezo nchini humo.

Kenya imerekodi visa 32,803 na vifo 559 huku idadi ya wagonjwa waliopona ikiwa 19,055.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday extended the dusk-to-dawn curfew as well as the closure of bars by a further 30 days in an effort to combat COVID-19.

President Kenyatta, addressing the nation from State House in Nairobi, however directed the Ministry of Health to meet bar owners and come up with proper resumption guidelines within the same period.

He also extended pushed the closing time for restaurants and eateries by one hour from the current 7pm to 8pm effective Thursday.

“The closure of bars and nightclubs is continued for a further 30 days. However, the prohibition against the sale of alcohol by licensed hotels with residence is vacated.”

“In the next 30 days, bar owners, in consultation with the Ministry of Health will develop self-regulating mechanisms as part of their civic responsibility to their clientele, in order to allow their resumption.”

He further stated: “The nationwide curfew that is currently in force between the hours of 9pm and 4am daily is hereby extended by a further 30 days.”

The Head of State also directed that the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage and the Ministry of Health jointly issue guidelines on the gradual resumption of sporting events in Kenya.
