Former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has been handed the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket to run for the Nairobi Senator seat.

Bishop Wanjiru will now face former Makadara MP Gideon Mbuvi Sonko of the The National Alliance (TNA).

Initially, the Housing assistant minister was eyeing the Governor's post but missed out due to her academic qualifications.

NAIROBI,KENYA: Former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru will battle it out with ex Makadara MP Gideon Mbuvi ‘Sonko' for the Nairobi senate seat.

This is after the Orange Democratic Movement gave Wanjiru the ticket to vie for the post.

Sonko will vie for the senate seat on The National Party (TNA) ticket.

Wanjiru failed to contest for the Nairobi Governor's post after the ODM National Elections Board failed to clear her due to her academic papers.

Former Mumias Sugar CEO Evans Kidero contest for the Nairobi Governor seat on ODM ticket. He faces former Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu of TNA.

Meanwhile Jubilee Coalition picked Millicent Omanga of URP to be Waititu's running mate.

So why are people shocked that he can speak good English? I don't get it.

Sonko appeared on Citizen News last night, and many Kenyans were hearing him speak in fluent uninterrupted English for the first time.

The former Makadara legislator was scheduled to face off with Margaret Wanjiru, but the latter did not show up. However, that did not stop the controversial Sonko from stating what he'll do for the people of Nairobi, quoting the constitution several times, and explaining how he made his millions, and surprisingly, he did it in very good English.
