Lieutenant Colonel, Juma Sipe

The National Service is planning on establishing training camps in every region of Tanzania Mainland to accommodate all youths volunteering to join its trainings.

The plan was revealed yesterday by the Ministry Of Defence and National Service spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Juma Nkangaa Sipe in a brief statement availed to The Guardian.

The statement said that the National Service has not been able to accommodate all youth volunteering to join the National Service training due to the high number of aspiring applicants and those obliged to join the training by the government.

“The department is facing the challenge due to the big number of applicants which is way too high for the accommodation capacity of our facilities,” read part of the statement.

Through the statement Sipe said the task is handled by a special Committee at the National Service Headquarters to pin-point suitable areas for allocation of new camps in the country.

The statement however said the expansion will depend on the availability of funds from the government and other sources.

According to the statement, although the National Service has recently repaired 20 camps countrywide with the capacity to accommodate 20,000 trainees, budget deficit still limits the number of new entrants to fill in the available facilities.
