New administration under Samia Suluhu gives hope after 5 years of hopelessness

The tax collection net will be widened

Bureaucratic inertia will be smoothed out

Investment centre under PM office considered part of that effort but we regard this is no game changer

The local government is under the PM office but that has not numbed misappropriation of public funds nor abuse of public office

Investment centre demands internal reforms more than vertical shifts

We will elaborate sometime in future what is needed at the investment centre

We were expecting an inspirational speech but we were treated to lacklustre one

Lack of gift of gab certainly did not help but too much details reduced it into a bore

Poor countries love winding speeches which have no chance of fulfilment

Keep wondering why not save this energy to execution

The vision is a statement of intent but will do well to eschew strategies and tactics which may come at a later date

But the speech would probably look impressive if it was coming from finance minister

Presidential speech need to confine to statement of intent and be as brief as it can be. Probably, 15 to 20 minutes but hours of listening are counterproductive

Milking more the have not is bad idea

Everybody is paying sales tax but this regime is voracious and is plotting to target how it can squeeze income tax

The most efficient and effective way to achieve this is introduction of poll tax

If they do this we will back to pre-independence era

No way. So many businesses have been closed down due to the deteriorating political situation countrywide, spearheaded by the unpredictability of the government policies towards foreign investment/investors.

Unless those facts target agribusiness the shifts needed may not augment the hidden hand of the market
