Our legal system was inherited from the British Common Law that has been influenced greatly by: Code of Hammurabi from ancient Babylon Sharia (Islamic) Law Canon (Catholic or Christian ) Law Customary law (mishmash from African systems of jurisprudence) I am not a lawyer so my learned sisters and brothers please correct and expand.
