ODM to blame for Likoni killings, Nelson Marwa says

Mombasa County Commissioner Nelson Marwa has blamed the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for the recent killings in Likoni.

Speaking during the county security committee meeting Friday, Mr Marwa said they have evidence to back their claims.

The claims follow a series of attacks in Likoni by hooded gunmen that have left at least six people dead.

A week ago, four people were shot dead in the Soweto slum in Likoni.

In another attack, gunmen shot dead two people at Sega bar and wounded two others.
Police launched a major security operation in the area involving soldiers of the Kenya Defence Forces. A grenade was recovered during the operation.

Now why doesnt this guy arrest the people he claims he has evidence to proove they were behind the Likoni attacks?

These political appointees are useless to say the least and they have no clue what their job entails. Kenyans are
dying allover the country and all we here is mara Odinga is behind these attacks mara sijui ODM is behind the
attacks yet nobody is going to jail. Arrest someone for chrisake!!!

Usanii mtupu!

Musiims are the ones who are being killed in retaliation and who are being jailed, victims of circumstances.

I concur, and it's really getting into my bones. They are now boring to the core.

Ndio inafanya kawaida likitendeka tunaegemea huko.

PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED IN MOMBASA IN RESPONSE TO ALLEGATIONS AGAINST ODM

The CORD family in Mombasa and indeed the entire country find the allegations that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is behind the violence or insecurity in Likoni by Mombasa County Commissioner Nelson Marwa unfortunate, absurd and laughable.

The allegations are equally concerning and a shameless and meek attempt to divert or shift responsibility for failures of the security structure of Mombasa County t
o the ODM party.

We must reiterate our concern and are undoubtedly appalled by the general sense of myopia and dearth of professionalism in dealing with the insecurity in Mombasa and other parts of the Coast region.

The CORD coalition has taken note of the politicisation in handling weighty security matters at all levels of government. This is not the first time such trivial allegations have been made with the intent of blaming the opposition as a cover-up to the incompetence in managing the runaway insecurity.

CORD believes that these allegations by government are not made in vain. They are calculated statements that point to the government's intent to persecute part of the opposition leadership under the guise of causing or sponsoring insecurity. The allegations are also a veiled attempt aimed at silencing the opposition and divert their legitimate obligation to demand that the government deals with the insecurity.

The Constitution is very clear on the management of the country's security. The Constitution recognises the National Police Service through the Inspector General of Police and the National Police Service Commission as the independent offices and organs that handle policing and security matters. The Cabinet Secretary or County Commissioners are busybodies in this arrangement. We want to register our concern to both the IGP and the NPSC for having allowed the systematic erosion of the independence of the Police Service. They have allowed the politicisation of the Service both in management of the security strategy and rhetoric.

We call on these office bearers to assert their mandates, run the security agencies impartially and implore new strategies to rollback the insecurity hitherto witnessed.

CORD is taking seriously the allegations made against its family member the ODM party and are convinced that the intention is to preside over a period of persecution of CORD's leadership and its membership, injure CORD's popularity in the region and shift the burden of responsibility from the government on account of its failure to provide and guarantee security to all the people of Kenya.

DATED THIS 25TH JULY, 2014

Marwa is a government stooge who speaks BS every time he opens his mouth. CORD should press him for this statement and ran with it. Useless and waste of taxpayers money!
