Omar Hassan's election as Mombasa County Senator challenged in Court.

- The Senator elect for Mombasa County Mr. Omar Hassan will have to spend some sleepless nights before knowing his fate as the Senator for Mombasa after a voter from his County moved to Court to stop IEBC from publishing the election results from that County due to irregularities.


In his application, Mr. Salim Karama cited a myriad of election malpractices by IEBC officials and some candidates. He noted that IEBC officials at Qubaa Primary School in Mvita locked out some agents, demanded bribes, accepted snacks and meals from candidates which eventually left many of them asleep during counting of ballots.


He noted that some IEBC officer turned away voters on the pretext that their names were missing from the BVR register.


Karama now wants Mombasa Senate results nullified and fresh elections conducted.


The respondents are the Mombasa County Returning Officer and the IEBC. Interested parties include; Ms Alice Maitha, Omar Hassan, Najib Balala and Ramadhan Kajembe.
