Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is said knowledge is power. There is also a saying that if you want to hide anything from Tanzanians, put it in writings. In my opinion, both sayings bear significant truth and that is why I see the importance of sharing with you who are in Dar es Salaam and Tanzania in general good news about the coming 6th Pan-African Reading For All Conference.The conference is expected to take place in Dar es Salaam at the University of Dar es Salaam come August 2009(10th-14th)
Pan-A frican Reading for All Conference is an event that takes place bi-annually under the organization of the International Reading Associations International Development Committee in Africa (IRA/DAC) and the national Reading Association in the host country.
The conference brings together teachers teacher educators, lecturers, adult literacy instructors, researchers, librarians, writers, publishers, book sellers, community leaders, policy makers and readers from all over Africa and beyond.
Next yearss conference will be under the theme Literacy for Community Based Socio-econimic Transformation and Development.Participants will converge in Dar to share their experiences in literacy and reading promotion initiatives and practices from different countries and to present, examine, analyse and seek ways of surmounting the various challenges preventing successful of literacy through formal and non-formal systems of education
With this call you are invited to be part of this powerful network committed to fostering literacy and reading culture for sustainable socio-economic transformationand for the good of the whole world
Personally I invite you to be part of the conference by making presentation at the conference or registering to attend the conference.There are a number of themes and sub themes under which participants will make their presentations and discussions.
NOTE: Although the conference is to take place next year August, registration and submission of proposals for those who would like to present should be done to the local planning committee note later than 31st December 2008
Registration fee for participants from Africa is $100 and others $ 200.
Registration and Proposal forms will be available on the forum as from Sunday.
