Job Description​

As a member of the Technical Works Group (TWG) team within the Estates Team, the Plumber will support the maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures, pipes, water systems, and domestic water services across the High Commission’s Office and Residential properties. Key responsibilities include:

  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems.
  • Reading blueprints for plumbing installations.
  • Conducting thorough inspections, testing for safety and compliance.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting water tanks, handling water treatment, and maintaining water plants and pools.
  • Providing Out of Hours emergency support as per organizational policies.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience​

  • College or trade school education from a reputable institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of plumbing experience.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing industry standards and code compliance.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and organized with proficiency in using plumbing tools and IT literacy.

Desirable Qualifications​

Additional Employment Terms​

Employees recruited locally by the British High Commission in Dar es Salaam are subject to local Tanzanian employment law and Terms and Conditions of Service. All candidates must be legally eligible to work and reside in Tanzania, with the responsibility for obtaining and paying for the relevant permits resting on the successful candidate. They must also arrange and cover the costs of relocation.

Employees not subject to local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salary adjusted by an equivalent local tax amount. For details on Civil Service Success Profiles, please refer to Success Profiles Guidance. Job grades AA, AO, EO, HEO, and SEO are equivalent to A1, A2, B3, C4, and C5 respectively.

Reference checks and security clearances will be conducted on successful candidates. Unsuccessful yet appointable candidates may be placed on a ‘reserve list’ for 6 to 12 months. If a similar role becomes available within this period, it may be offered to candidates on this reserve list.
