In this simple paper I will discuss the foundation of reformation and you are supposed to reflect this into political situation. The word reformation historically began during 16th century, movement which began with the effort to reform the church. This gained the momentum following the introduction of humanistic education. (Karugu, 2006)
What did the reformers want? Reformers wanted a return to simpler religion of Christ. They demanded that Christians should be permitted to study the bible by themselves on their own as to the Christian duty. When these demands were not met, reformers broke away from catholic and formed the protestant church. ( What are the political reformers what?).. (What does the reformers do when their demand are not meet?.)Let us examine two prominent reformers: (Martin and John)Martin Luther (1483-1546)He enunciates the most progressive ideas on education.
He advocated for compulsory educationHe divided a school system for German people into three levels.Vernacular school system for common people medium of instruction is vernacular language, it was open to all sex and the curriculum was based on reading, writing, physical training, singing and religion.
Attendance was compulsory Latin secondary schools curriculum based on Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Rhetoric, history, science, Music, Mathematics and Gymnastics.Universities for training people for high service in church and state.(Do you think protestant party will be classes free?)John Calvin (1509-1564)He was the French reformer. He is remembered for having written the first orderly presentation of the principles of Christian faith from the protestant stand point. He organized an extensive system of schools from elementary, secondary to university level. Then education was complete.Education provided was religious, civil, intellectual, moral, social and economicEducation was provided for all rich and poor alike.
The values promoted through the education introduced by protestant reformers laid a basis for what ethics contributed immensely to the rise and spread of capitalism as an economic system in western Europe and elsewhere. ((Do you think protestant party will be classes free?))Counter reformerIn order to stem off the revolt sparked by the reformation the church called the council of Trent (1545-1563). The counter reform was spearheaded by the Society of Jesus or Jesuits. This religious order was founded by a Spanish scholar St. Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556). The society absorbed the best educational ideas of the time on school organization, management and curriculum and incorporated them in its educational plans. As a result Jesuit schools that were established soon became a success story they were sought by many for offering high quality education. Jesuit schools spread all over Europe, Asia, America and later Africa.(Do you think the new party are going to take Tanzanian politics far?)Questions:· What are the political reformers what?(I think they want simple democracy, demands' on the taking the party capitation to the grassroots' office and party constitution amendment)·
What does the reformers do when their demand are not meet?(the reformers broke away from party and forms the protestant party)· Do you think protestant party will be classes free?(Protestant party will also have classes as seen in martin and John ideas)· Do you think the new party are going to take Tanzanian politics far? (I don't think so. Kwani makanisa yote yaliyo meguka toka Katoriki hayajaleta kitu kipya, Katoliki Imeendelea kuwa kanisa kubwa na linaloheshimika duniani)Conclusion:In order to stem off the revolt sparked by the reformation the big opposition party should do the same thing which the church did. And not to fear the number of people from the party joining the protestant because they do not know the reality, this is what I think. Remember A. Hitler said we are self-assured because we are strong and we are strong because we are united. The most preconditions in life is the necessity to be strong.
