How can I find the four directions if I am standing facing my face in the front? Also, what are the names of all the 10 directions?



First, find out the direction of sunrise. Stand and face towards the direction of sunrise. Raise both your hands along left and right sides.

Now, Your front side is East direction, Your back side is West direction, Your left hand side is North direction, Your right hand direction is South. These are four major directions. Between any major directions are sub directions. In addition to this two more directions are added to represent 10 directions of the objects.

Ten directions with respect to your standing place are

1.East (E), 2.West (W), 3.North (N), 4.South (S), 5.South East (SE), 6.South West (SW), 7.North East (NE), 8.North West (NW), 9.Towards sky (Zenith), 10.Towards Earth (Nadir)





Always remember the Sun rises in the East and sets in west. So you can figure out 4 directions. In the WestErn world 10 directions is not well known but Hindu philosophers believe in these. English names: East, West, North and South. Followed by North East, North West, South East and South West.





Sun is the best way to know the Directions. It Rises in the East ( Morning ) and Sets in the West (Evening)

Face-towards East (Morning) and stretch Your Arms- Right Hand side is South, Left hand side is North and your Back is towards West direction.
