1. They do not accept that everyone is entitled to rights, and often encourages their supporters they need nothing from the Populist Government. i.e. security.

2. They have a tendency of abusing the climate of discontent just to discredit human rights claims, arguing that these rights only serve Terror suspects, Opposition groups, Minority groups and Asylum seekers

3. There is an international trend of these Populist leaders also known as "Strong Men" or "Fearless Leaders" to
∆ Cracking down on opposition voices
∆ Harassing civil society groups
∆ Silencing Media outlets

4. Human rights Advocates must fight for Democratic Governments to responsibly defend human rights..While the public on the other hand should insist on truth based politics based on Democratic values.

NOTE: Populist politicians often promises to do the impossible once they are in office.. End elite's corruption, promote good governance, bring bring an end to poverty with all fairness..However they lack any intention to tackle the problem seriously..

For that reason they don't make their plans public and avoid debates because sometimes they don't have a working plan charted out. For the fear of being exposed , secrecy becomes an important tool.

Tayyip Edorgan, Theresa May, Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, Paul Kagame etc.
