DO YOU WANT TO WORK WITH DEVELOPMENT AID?
The Embassy of Denmark in Dar es Salaam is the focal point in the partnership between Tanzania and Denmark. Tanzania is Denmark’s largest programme country and Danish aid to Tanzania covers a variety of areas. For the second half of 2010, two interns will be recruited to work with Public Financial Management/Aid Management and Public Diplomacy respectively. The internship will help you to apply your technical skills in practice and further develop your competencies in your field of study.


Public Financial Management (PFM) and Aid Management
If you are interested in working with Public Financial Management (PFM) (reforms) and Aid Management at a Danish Embassy in Africa, then a six month internship at the Embassy of Denmark in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, could be of interest to you.

Qualifications
We are looking for an intern to work within the field of Financial Aid Management and Public Financial Management (PFM), a task that covers overall monitoring of aid management within the Danish country programme, follow up on funds disbursed to partners as well as participation in monitoring of PFM reforms in Tanzania.

You should possess at least the following qualifications:
• Bachelor in economics, development studies, political science, international business and politics or similar
• Knowledge of PFM reforms, and of Aid Management, including financial management
• Good qualifications in English
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Good sense of humour

Areas of work
As a trainee your primary task will be to:
• Assist the chief financial officer in the overall Financial Aid Management in relation to the Country Programme for Tanzania
• Assist the chief financial officer with the follow up on funds disbursed to implementing partners including contact to private auditors as well at the National Audit Office
• Assist with tasks related to controlling and financial management of the Danish Development Assistance
• Assist the country economist in the management of the Danish participation in the Public Financial Management Reform Programme (PFMRP) basket.
• Assist the country economist in monitoring the overall implementation of PFM reforms in Tanzania.

Public Diplomacy
If you are interested in working with public diplomacy, media and culture development at a Danish representation in Africa, then a six month internship at the Embassy of Denmark in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, could be of interest to you.

Qualifications
We are looking for an intern to work within the field of public relations, a task that covers media assessment, preparing news stories, participating in raising the culture profile of Denmark and shaping the profile of the Embassy in the local context. You should possess at least the following qualifications:

• Bachelor in journalism, media science, communication, public relations or similar
• Good qualifications in English, verbal and written
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Good sense of humour


Areas of work
As a trainee your primary task will be to:
• Based on a media analysis of Tanzania, that covers radio, newspapers, TV and other electronic media you will assist in making the new media strategy operational.
• Identify and prepare for Danish media, 2 – 4 news stories about the impact of Danish development assistance in Tanzania and a similar number of the local news as part of our media strategy.
• Assist in preparing news stories and maintain the Embassy web-page.
• Participate in monitoring of Denmark’s culture program in Tanzania and in promoting Denmark’s profile in culture in Tanzania in general.
