hehehe keep on dreaming, eti we are at per,,,,, When the reports comes tag me please. The US has contributed more than $1 billion in development funding to Kenya... funding which is never counted as FDI nor is it counted as part of the budget.... This makes Kenya the highest recipient of US funds in sub-saharan Africa, and 2nd in Africa After Egypt which gets $1.5 mostly for military compensation so that they don't bother Israel. Another example........80% of Kenya's Geothermal power plants gets their turbines engines from GE at cheap wholesell price, while under AGOA Kenya is the biggest exporter to the US..... Kenya is also the biggest beneficiary of Power Africa project..
Kenya benefits from such stuff not because we are rich, not because we are poor....not because we have the most need or offer the biggest opportunity, but because of soft power ...... Because our leaders make personal connections with leaders of such countries... because we make a point to be recognized as a country even by regular citizens of other countries..... So next time you see our president out there, its not just about making deals and signing contracts (thats just a bonus) ..... Its about creating relationships, its about lobbying... its about making personal connections ........[eventually you have a situation where presidents of these countries personally recognize Kenya thus becoming defecto advocates of Kenya] This is why you end up with USAID, GE, UN, amcham head office being located in Nairobi and Kenya ends up being the biggest beneficiary of such orgs, this is why a sitting Kenyan president can be an ICC suspect and still Kenya doesn't suffer for it.
Why do you think most of these countries offer free scholarships to millions of other countries citizens... you think its out of the goodness of their hearts/........ ? You do your scholarship in their country... you become influenced by their culture... you become eternally grateful to them.... out of every a thousand who benefited form the scholarship 50 might end up becoming leaders of tomorrow in their countries.... Thats how you have people like David Ndii always singing praises to the west and always bashing countries from East... Even a person like the president has been influenced by Britain culture..... So in our own way, Kenya tries to do the same when we interact with presidents of these countries..
