President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga on Monday morning shared a platform in the latters Kisumu stronghold.
They were attending the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Archdiocese of Kisumu under Rev Zacchaeus Okoth at Uzima University College.
The two leaders were meeting at a time when the Opposition and the ruling Jubilee coalition are embroiled in a war of words over corruption.
In particular, the National Youth Services Sh826 million scandal has been a source of strong words from both camps.
President Kenyattas visit comes in the wake of a promise he made on Kisumus Oginga Odinga Street during the second devolution conference in April.
Convoys of the two leaders caused a stir in town as residents milled along the road leading to Uzima University College to greet them.
However, the two leaders did not make a stopover at any of the sections.
Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma led local leaders in welcoming them.
