Interesting times.

1st off Uhuru Kenyatta withdraws from the Presidential debates knowing their is a 'chink in his armor'
mainly because the elephant in the room would be the The Land Question. The fact that the Kenyatta
family are an arrogant land owning bourgeoisie is well documented and also by self confession of one
Beth Mugo.

Secondly, It didn't escape the political eye of the Kenyan political scenario that President Kibaki has
decided to finally register the National land Commission after facing a petition on this matter.

In his column piece, 'Why land is an important campaign issue', Prime Minister Raila Odinga rightly
points out that the executive is stalling the process by refusing to gazette the National Land
Commission. Read more: https://www.jamiiforums.com/kenyan-...-why-land-is-an-important-campaign-issue.html

It remains to be seen if this commission will be given the political blessing to carry out its work without
any interference from any quarters.

.....or could it just be another 'carrot and stick' being dangled at Kenyans to be used in the Kibaki Succession?

President Kibaki has finally gazetted the names of the members of National Land Commission.

The names of the nine commissioners - Mohammed Swazuri (chairman), Tomiik Mboya Konyimbih, Silas Kinoti Muriithi, Rose Mumbua Musyoka, Samuel Kipng'etich Tororei, Abigael Mbagaya, Emma Muthoni Njogu, Clement Isaiah Lenachuru and Abdulkadir Adan Khalif - were forwarded to the Government Printer last evening.

Earlier, a taskforce had petitioned President Kibaki to gazette the team. Delaying the gazettement of the commission will have serious repercussions on the formulation of land laws, the National Task Force on Community Land said.

The taskforce also warned that the President's inaction was slowing down its operations.

"Our work has been slowed down and we ask President Kibaki to hasten the gazettement of the National Land Commission before he proceeds on retirement," Mr Odindo Opiata, an official of the team, said during a workshop at the Mombasa Inter-Continental Hotel.

The team, set up last September, is moving around the country to collect views from the public, which will be used to formulate the Community Land and Evictions and Resettlement Bills.

Dude what are you on about? This is a question of a president flaunting the law and being in contempt of court!
What does that have to do with what Raila affirms or doesnt?

Do not mind him, he is obsessed with Raila! As you perfectly put it, the president was flaunting the law and was in contempt of the court. It was after the CIC chairman issued a warning that charges will be pressed once he leaves office that he made this move.

The fact remains the 3 largest land holders in Kenya are the Kenyattas, Kibakis, & Mois. The NLC is supposed to address historical injustice and the landlords are threatened!

Mkulu, hapo kwenye red I hope this is tongue in cheek, but Raila has been a king-maker always

I just don't get this guy nowadays. Everything he answers to he has to rope Raila in it. That's
a malady that's beyond any justifiable reason.
