President Magufuli ignored regional leader's phone calls to discuss COVID-19

Kenyan opposition ODM party leader Raila Odinga has accused Tanzania President John Pombe Magufuli of ignoring phone calls from regional leaders who are concerned about the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Tanzania.

According to Raila, Dr Magufuli has refused to heed to calls from his Eat African counterparts including President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni and Rwanda’s Paul Kagame to institute measures that would slow down the spread of the virus.

“I’ve tried to reach him on phone but I’ve not managed to, and I’ve left him a message on his SMS that I would like to discuss issues of national, regional, and continental importance with him. I think that he as a nationalist need to get information from fellow leaders because this is a regional issue and if we do not control it in Kenya it will affect Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Burundi because our destiny is tied together,” he said.

What has Kenyatta done to stop demolition? While ur Court stopped demolitions he sent bulldozers to destroy the slums of 5000 Kariobangi families at this time! If he cares about u he should have delayed the demolition to at least after coronavirus epidemics is over!

This disease threatens the entire region, it knows no national boundaries. it's foolish to think an individual nation can defeat it alone without a coordinated effort by neighboring countries as infections can easily spread into a nearby country. The isolationist actions will also threaten the progress of nations that will make significant steps in containing the virus.

It's my hope that the praise team can come to their senses and stop encouraging this behavior, we need a coordinated approach as a region or all our individual efforts might be wasted.
