President Samia Suluhu Hassan has extended her condolences to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Tulia Ackson, following the death of Kigamboni MP and WHO Regional Director-elect for Africa, Dr. Faustine Ndugulile.
Dr. Ndugulile passed away in India at the age of 55.
In a message shared on her WhatsApp Channel, President Samia expressed her sorrow over his passing and extended heartfelt condolences to his family, members of parliament, Kigamboni residents, friends, and relatives.
“I have received with sadness the news of the passing of Dr. Faustine Ndugulile, Member of Parliament for Kigamboni and the Director-elect of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the African Region, which occurred this morning. My sincere condolences to his family, the Speaker of Parliament, Dr. Tulia Ackson, Members of Parliament, the residents of Kigamboni, relatives, friends, and all Tanzanians. May the Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest,” the President wrote.
The news was confirmed by Dr. Tulia Ackson through a statement shared on the Parliament's official social media platforms. She also announced that the Parliament would work with the family to coordinate funeral arrangements and share further details soon.
Dr. Faustine Ndugulile had a distinguished career as a Tanzanian politician and public servant. Serving as the Member of Parliament for Kigamboni since 2010 under the ruling CCM party, he held various leadership roles.
In 2017, he was appointed as Deputy Minister for Health, and in 2020, he became the inaugural Minister for Communication and ICT in a ministry established under former President John Magufuli and continued under President Samia’s leadership.
In August 2024, Dr. Ndugulile was nominated as the next Regional Director for the WHO African Region, a role he was set to assume.
He is survived by his two children, Martha Ndugulile and Melvin Ndugulile.
