President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived in Dar es Salaam Wednesday morning to join other regional leaders at a summit seeking to stop the political crisis in Burundi.
Top on the agenda of the 13th Extra Ordinary Summit of East African Community (EAC) Heads of State is the consideration of the recommendations on the report of the 32nd meeting of the EAC Councils of Ministers on the General Election in Burundi.
The regional Foreign Ministers last evening held a lengthy meeting that went on until late in the night, discussing the Burundi issue.
The plane carrying President Kenyatta and his entourage touched down at the Julius Nyerere International Airport shortly after 11.00 am.
On arrival, the President was received by senior Tanzanian Government officials before he inspected a guard of honour mounted by a detachment of the Tanzanian military.
Last Saturday, the Kenyan Head of State met the COMESA Committee of Elders chaired by Bethuel Kiplagat and EAC Eminent Persons at State House, Nairobi, where he urged the parties involved in the Burundi conflict to embrace dialogue and accelerate the resolution of the political impasse.
