Deputy President Kithure Kindiki: Words fail me to explain how grateful I am today. I’m grateful to President Ruto for the honour he has given me to serve under him. I have been his political student for 20 years and nothing in the political space has helped me pick up lessons more than the years that I have walked around him

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki: I promise you (President Ruto) before this congregation and God that I will not let you down for the privilege you have given me

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki: Whatever has happened in the last few weeks, and in the recent past, is a testament to the maturity of our democracy and a testament that our institutions work.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki: Allow me to thank my wonderful wife, Joyce Kithure. A woman who has sacrificed her profession, in her own right, to raise our three children, Imani, Neema, and Mwende. I am very grateful to my wife and the children for being the foundation and providing the support that I have always required as I navigate this difficult space of public service.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki: I have come to believe that Kenya is a country of possibility. Your Excellency, for a person such as me to stand here today and take oath of office of deputy president, can only happen in Kenya.

Ruto blasts Gachagua as he asks Kindiki to be a good deputy

President William Ruto has launched a veiled attack on his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, who was removed from office through impeachment by Parliament.

Speaking passionately at the swearing-in ceremony of new Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, President Ruto expressed frustration over feeling like a “lonely voice” within the Executive, lacking support to effectively communicate his administration’s programs.

Addressing Kindiki directly, Ruto lauded his intellectual capability and eloquence, saying, “I need your voice. I need your intellect to help me and members of our cabinet to profile and articulate the things we are doing.”

The President emphasized that over the past two years, he had been left as the sole communicator of his government’s initiatives, saying, “I have almost become a lonely voice in the Executive, especially within the Presidency, speaking about our programs and elaborating on our work.”

In a personal appeal to Kindiki, Ruto expressed confidence in his new deputy's ability to fulfil a role he felt was previously unmet. “You are eloquent, my brother; you are intelligent, my brother. I’m confident that you will do what I have missed for the last two years. I know you will,” he stated.

This marked the first time President Ruto is hinting at what triggered the fallout with his deputy, since the political onslaught that culminated in the impeachment of Gachagua.

Good speech by DP Mr Kindiki

Sasa Ruto alishaona jamaa anataka kumzika mapema amuache??
