Program Manager/Technical Officer, Maternal and Newborn Health (1 position)
Position Overview:
The Program Manager and MNH Officer will lead operations and oversee program implementation in Zanzibar. S/he will work closely with the Ministry of Health Zanzibar and R/CHMTs to set priorities, develop work plans, provide leadership and management support in implementing and monitoring project activities, and ensure the mandatory annual results performance standards are met. In addition to providing oversight on program implementation s/he will provide technical assistance in implementing the maternal and newborn component on the isles. S/he will build a strong regional team and support them to work in a coordinated, rational, and integrated way in the pursuit of Project deliverables. The program manager will also coordinate with the project technical advisors to tailor assistance based on regional /district needs. As appropriate, the Program Manager/ Technical Officer, MNH, will actively participate in MOH-led RMNCAH policy and strategy discussions, including planning and progress reviews with other stakeholders.

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Advanced Degree in program management (e.g., MBA), healthcare management, or other relevant fields. A degree in clinical medicine or nursing is desirable.
- At least seven years demonstrated experience implementing and managing healthcare programs (This includes human resources, procurement, and sub-grantee management, development of regional strategies, budget, and work plans)
- Experience in managing a large office and professional staff
- Proven leadership in team building and demonstrated ability to achieve results
- Extensive knowledge of the local health systems
- Previous experience and understanding of USG funded programs
- Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: MNH, child health, immunization, nutrition, CECAP, ASRH, gender, SBC, and community interventions
- Demonstrated ability to develop working relationships with local government, key stakeholders, and other agencies
- Demonstrated experience in writing quarterly and annual report, as well as documentation of program results
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills in English and Kiswahili
- Ability to travel up to 30%
