Bank of Uganda has warned that the country’s public debt which has reached $ 15.1 billion up from $ 6 billion three years ago, could among others affect economic growth because of reduced public investment.

Ripoti ya tathmini ya kila mwezi ya BoT inaonyesha kwa mwaka ulioishia Machi, Serikali ilikopa zaidi ya Dola 2.489 bilioni za Marekani kutoka vyanzo vya nje huku iki-chukua zaidi ya Sh2.084 trilioni kutoka nda-ni. Kutokana na ongezeko hilo, deni la nje limefika zaidi ya Dola 20.156 bilioni (zaidi ya Sh45.35 trilioni) wakati la ndani likizidi Sh14.158 trilioni.
