The Ambassador of the State of Qatar, Jabor Ali Al-Dosari, announced that his government was prepared to invest Ksh352.6 Billion to go towards realizing affordable housing in Kenya.

He made the statement when he paid the Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi a visit on Wednesday.

Muturi hailed the gesture by the Qatar government to aid in the establishment of 140,000 housing units, which is in President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big Four Agenda.

This will play a key role in helping Kenya realize affordable housing, one of the pillars of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.

He further called for the fostering of future partnerships that would strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

The trade between the two nations has grown from Kshs6.3 billion in 2015 to over Kshs8.8 billion in 2018.

  • Qatar national carrier, Qatar Airways, embarked on its maiden direct flight to Mombasa late last year. The four-time weekly flights were Qatar Airways’ second Kenyan destination, in addition to its existing flights to Nairobi.
Al-Dosari used his visit to formally invite Muturi to the 140th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), set take place in Doha, Qatar in April 2019.
