Leaders of the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) have expressed confidence that they will win with Prime Minister Raila Odinga as the President.

All the leaders who spoke during yesterday rally at Uhuru Park, Nairobi, that unveiled the CORD line-up, said the coalition had the face of Kenya, and asked other political parties to join.

Speakers faulted the rival Jubilee coalition terming the leaders spent cartridges with no credible credentials to sell to Kenyans.

The leaders also invited Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi back to the fold.

Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba was the first to liken Mudavadi to wounded flock in the grazing field and asked him to return home.

He said the DPM is still welcome even as he warned Eldoret North MP William Ruto to be careful in Jubilee coalition.

“We are so sorry for Mudavadi. But you are still welcome back home. Return home, my brother,” he said.

The National Alliance leader Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto’s United Republican Party evicted Mudavadi after Uhuru failed to honour a private pact they signed on December 4.

Mudavadi said Uhuru had agreed to support him for president. A move Uhuru accepted, but blamed ‘dark forces’ for pushing him to step down for Mudavadi.

The “dark forces” were subject of speeches that each speaker who addressed the rally exploited to hit at the Jubilee alliance. “Where they see devils, we see God. Where they see pride, we see humility. Those that God aims to destroy He first makes them senseless. We know some people have been rendered senseless,” said Mr Namwamba.

ODM chairman Henry Kosgey, Roads minister Franklin Bett, and Kipkeleon MP Magerer Langat promised to deliver the Rift Valley vote to Cord.

“We in Rift Valley are firmly in Cord because we want to form the next government. For those who were doubting they should now know which team will form the government,” said Mr Kosgey. Other MPs who addressed the crowd were Gotobu Imanyara, Wavinya Ndeti, Hassan Joho, David Musila, Noah Wekesa, and William ole Ntimama.

Tip Tip party leader Kalembe Ndile also addressed the rally.

Kangundo MP Johnstone Muthama said unveiling of the line-up is the start of a long journey that would see Raila ascend to State House.

He said the team is dedicated to wipe out tribalism, empower Kenyans and improve their lives.

Solidarity Party leader Maina Njenga declared his support for Cord and declared that Raila would form be president. “We have decided to work with Cord and we shall support it fully,” he said.
