Rais wa Marekani, Joe Biden amesema Dunia inapaswa kuwa na uangalifu kuhusu maambukizi ya Virusi vya Monkeypox ambayo yanazidi kusambaa na unaweza kusababisha athari mbaya ikiwa utaendelea kusambaa.
Amesema Wanasayansi walioo Marekani wanaendelea kupambana kutafuta dawa na ikiwezekana kuwe na chanjo yake. Virusi hivyo vilianza kusambaa mwezi huu Mei 2022 na vimeendelea kusambaa katika mataifa tofauti hasa Afrika.
"Wasaidizi wangu hawajaniamia kwa undani kuhusu virusi hivyo, lakini kila mmoja anaaswa kuwa makini na (Marekani) tunalifanyia kazi kwa bidii kujua tunachotakiw akufanya na kuona ni chanjo gani inaweza kupatikana,” Rais Biden.
Kumekuwa na maelfu ya maambukizi ya wanadamu katika sehemu za Afrika ya Kati na Magharibi katika miaka ya hivi karibuni lakini ni nadra katika Ulaya na Amerika Kaskazini.
Kwa mujibu wa Shirika la Afya Duniani (WHO) hadi kufikia Mei 21, 2022 kulikuwa na kesi 92 za watu walioambukiwa Monkeypox worldwide

Joe Biden has said the world "should be concerned" about the spread of monkeypox as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) investigates cases in the U.S.
Asked about his level of concern over recent cases, the U.S. president told reporters at Osan Air Base in South Korea on Sunday that scientists were working on a response, which he said might include vaccines.
"Well, they haven't told me the level of exposure yet, but it is something that everybody should be concerned about. We're working on it hard to figure out what we do and what vaccine, if any, may be available for it.
"But it is a concern in the sense that if it were to spread, it's consequential. That's all they have told me."
According to the Associated Press, Jake Sullivan, a national security adviser to the president, told reporters on the flight to Tokyo as part of Biden's Asia tour that the U.S. had a supply of "vaccine that is relevant to treating monkeypox."
