- Uhuru has condemned the killings and condoled with the families and friends of those who were killed in the brutal attack President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent an emotional message to his Tanzanian counterpart President John Pombe Magufuli following the brutal killing of 15 Tanzanian soldiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In a letter shared on his Facebook page on Sunday, December 10, Uhuru condemned the brutal killings and condoled with families and friends of the 15 Tanzanian soldiers.
"The attack of the soldiers, who were serving the good cause of establishing sustainable peace in the DRC, was vile.The government of Kenya will stand with the government and people of Tanzania in seeking a peaceful and prosperous future for the region," Uhuru said
Uhuru underscored the crucial role that the soldiers played in the region's peacekeeping mission and promised to continue working closely with President Magufuli's government in the ongoing efforts to restore stability in the DRC.
The 15 soldiers were reportedly killed in North Kivu region of the DRC on Thursday, December 7, by heavily armed militants while on peacekeeping mission. According to a report by The Guardian, over 50 solders were injured in the deadly attack that pitted local Islamist extremist group against the UN peace-keeping soldiers.
While reacting to the assault, Magufuli expressed his shock and also condoled with the families of the Tanzanian soldiers who died in the line of duty. "I am extremely shocked to hear of the deaths of our young and brave soldiers and heroes who lost their lives carrying out their peace mission in the DRC," Magufuli said in a statement.

Tanzania is on peaceful mission under UNSC, Kenya is on full scale war with extremist in Somalia via AMISOM. Rule of engagement are are different, Tanzania is not allowed to launch offensive mission unlike Kenya. If this was to happen to KDF solders, then we would've question KDF response and if it was strong enough to send a message or topical lele-mama.
