Lucas Silva makes his Real Madrid debut

The Brazilian came on in the second half against Deportivo.

Lucas Silva made his Real Madrid debut in the win over Deportivo and against the backdrop of the Santiago Bernabéu. The midfielder came off the bench in the 71st minute, replacing Illarra. The last Madrid signing thus became the 22nd footballer who is eligible to play for Brazil, to play competitively for Real Madrid (Pepe was born in Brazil but has Portuguese nationality).

There is also the curious fact that the Whites midfielder made his debut against the same opponents as his team mates Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema and Marcelo.

Real Madrid are now concentrating on the Champions League

The outfielders that started against Deportivo completed a recovery session.

Following the win against Deportivo, the La Liga leaders are now focused on the Champions League round of 16. Ancelotti's men completed their first training session in Ciudad Real Madrid ahead of the trip to Schalke 04 on Wednesday (8:45pm CET). The majority of the players who started against the Galician team carried out a recovery session in the indoor facilities.

However, Marcelo did train on the pitch, combining exercises on the grass with work in the indoor facilities. The three goalkeepers, Carvajal, Pepe, Lucas Silva, Chicharito and Jesé, as well as academy players Derik, Medrán and Raúl de Tomás, completed an intense session in which ball work featured heavily. Meanwhile, Ramos, Khedira, James, Modric and Coentrão continue with their recovery work.
