Cristiano Ronaldo makes La Liga history




His two goals at Eibar saw him reach 20 inside the first 12 matchdays, a mark never previously witnessed.

Christiano Ronaldo has once again written his name into the history books. The Portuguese star's two goals against Eibar mean he has already chalked up 20 in this season's Spanish top flight. Nobody in La Liga history had ever previously reached the tally boasted by the Real Madrid forward inside 12 matchdays. The Ballon d'Or holder, who stretches his lead in the race to be crowned the league's highest scorer, has found the net against every La Liga team that he has faced.​

James: "We have to keep playing to this level"



"We've won 14 matches in a row and it's a great tally, but we want to add to it", said Carvajal.

James scored Real Madrid's opening goal in their win over Eibar at Ipurua, and highlighted the team's good run of form as he spoke post-match: "We knew that it was going to be a tough match, but we also knew that we could go out and win if we played well and put in a good match. I'm happy about the win and coming away with a good result."

Ancelotti: "We were good defensively, in attack, with dead ball situations…



"We leave here happy because the fans were up for this game and showed us a lot of respect", he said.

"There was a party atmosphere in this city for the match. We are happy. A lot of the crowd was against us, but in a respectful way. That is fine. We leave here happy because the fans were up for this game and showed us a lot of respect."

"He didn't have any niggles. He was a bit tired and I preferred the idea of using Isco because he recovered well after international duty."

Real Madrid travells to Switzerland this week to play against FC Basel in European Champions league matchday 5. This is ST.JAKOB STADIUM IN BASEL



St. Jakob Park (help·info) is a Swiss sports stadium in Basel. It is the largest football venue in Switzerland and home to FC Basel. "Joggeli", as the venue is nicknamed by the locals, was originally built with a capacity of 33,433 seats. The capacity was increased to 42,500 for Euro 2008, which was hosted by Switzerland and Austria.[SUP][3][/SUP] After the Euro 2008 a number of seats were removed, thus creating more space between them. The capacity was therefore reduced to 38,512[SUP][1][/SUP] for Swiss Super League matches or 37,500 seats for international matches[SUP][4][/SUP] The maximum capacity forconcerts is 60,000.​

Ronaldo well on the way to smashing La Liga record



While Barcelona forward Lionel Messi was busy breaking the all-time La Liga scoring record on Saturday, Cristiano Ronaldo took a step closer to smashing the best for a single season of 50 goals also held by his Argentine rival.

Madrid at Eibar and the Portugal forward has now scored an incredible 20 goals in 11 appearances inSpain's top flight this term.
If the World Player of the Year continues at his current pace, his tally for the season will be more than 60, comfortably surpassing Messi's record set in 2011-12.
The 29-year-old Ronaldo, who missed Real's defeat at Real Sociedad in August due to injury, is the first player to reach 20 goals in the opening 12 rounds of La Liga.
"A lot of people are envious about what he has achieved and about what he can accomplish," Real's Brazil fullback Marcelo told reporters.
"Cristiano always works hard, he's a top professional with a huge desire to learn and help the team."



Since he joined Real from Manchester United in 2009, Ronaldo has netted 197 La Liga goals, while Messi's record set on Saturday with a hat-trick against Sevilla is 253.
Real's victory at tiny Eibar, who are appearing in Spain's top flight for the first time, maintained their two-point lead over second-placed Barca at the top.
The European champions are next in action on Wednesday when they play at FC Basel in the Champions League having already qualified for the last 16.

Ronaldo has scored 70 goals in Europe's elite club competition, one fewer than Messi and former Real and Schalke 04 forward Raul.

Christiano Ronaldo and Isco received the Mahou Cinco Estrellas Player of the month awards for September and October, respectively. The two Real Madrid men were recognised for their great start to the season during which time they have played a hand in getting the team to the La Liga top spot. Ignacio Cormenzana, Mahou's marketing director, was in charge of presenting the awards which were decided by fans via social media.​

For a session in which ball work took centre stage, Ancelotti once again called on youth academy player Álvaro Medrán. Khedira and Pepe worked in the indoor facilities, whilst Modric's recovery process continues.​

Casillas, nominated for the FIFA FIFPro 2014 World XI




He is one of the five candidates for the voted-for award, along with Buffon, Neuer, Courtois and Bravo.

Real Madrid's Iker Casillas has been selected as one of the five goalkeeping candidates to form part of the FIFA FIFPro 2014 World XI. The prize winner will be announced on 14 January during the Ballon d'Or ceremony, which will take place in Zurich (Switzerland). Germany's Manuel Neuer, Chile's Claudio Bravo, Belgium's Thibaut Courtois and Italy's Gianluigi Buffon make up the other nominees.

The International Federation of Professional Footballers, FIFPro, and FIFA announced the names of the hopeful goalkeepers today. The award is chosen by the players themselves and Casillas, the Real Madrid and Spanish national team captain, received it for five consecutive years: 2008-2012.​

Milorad Mazic to referee Basel-Real Madrid



It will be the first time the Serbian officiates a game involving the Whites in the Champions League.

Serbian official Milorad Mazic will take charge of the encounter between Basel and Real Madrid in St. Jakob Park for matchday five of the Champions League Group Stages (Wednesday, 8:45pm CET). It will be his first time refereeing a game involving the Whites.

According to Marca Real Madrid have signed Mallorca's Pearl Marcos Asensio for a fee of €3.5 million. The truth is that the agreement is a lack of a signature and and a final meeting will occur this week between the two parties.

Real Madrid new player, Marcos Asensio (18 years) participated in 10 out of 22 goals for Mallorca this season, scored 3 and assisted 7 goals in 13 games.

Carvajal collects the 'Jóvenes 2014 D. O. La Mancha' award




"It is an honour for me to donate this prize to the Real Madrid Foundation and the Manos de Ayuda Social Foundation", said the youth academy graduate.

Carvajal has been bestowed with the Jóvenes 2014 D. O. La Mancha award by the designation of origin of wine from said region of Spain. The ceremony took place in the presidential box in the Santiago Bernabéu, where the Real Madrid player received recognition as a standout athlete over the course of the year, thus succeeding fellow team-mate Isco.

"Thanks to the Denominación de Origen Castilla La Mancha for giving me this award. It is an honour to receive this award and to be able to donate the prize to beneficial causes like those carried out by the Real Madrid Foundation and the Manos de Ayuda Social Foundation. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my team-mates, the coaches and everyone involved with Real Madrid."

Additionally, Carvajal congratulated the other prize winners: "I would like to congratulate the Women's National Basketball team for their extraordinary silver medal in Istanbul."

The Whites won 2-5 during their last trip to the central European nation. That was against Zurich, in their first fixture during the 2009-2010 edition of the competition. Cristiano Ronaldo, who got a brace, Raúl, Higuaín and Guti were the goalscorers that night.

The Whites could not have gotten off to a better start in the Champions League that season. The same could be said for Cristiano Ronaldo. The forward made his European debut for Real Madrid and, true to form, scored two goals, both of which came from free kicks. He got his first in the 28th minute and his second in the 89th.
