Hello everyone,
I am currently doing a research on the Legal Challenges of the Protection of Traditional knowledge in Tanzania Mainland. In order to get valuable research findings I am asking for your help to take 5 minutes of time and fill out my online questionnaire: Legal protection of Traditional Knowledge in Mainland Tanzania: Challenges and Prospects

The survey is anonymous and all responses will be kept confidential and used solely for the purpose of this research. Your honest and thoughtful responses are highly appreciated and will contribute significantly to the study.

Traditional knowledge is knowledge, know-how, skills and practices that are developed, sustained and passed on from generation to generation within a community, often forming part of its cultural or spiritual identity.

Traditional knowledge in the narrow sense refers to knowledge as such, in particular the knowledge resulting from intellectual activity in a traditional context, and includes know-how, practices, skills, and innovations.

My research is aiming to identify possible challenges the holders of traditional knowledge are facing in Tanzania and ultimately develop recommendations on how to better protect their knowledge.

In case you have any questions, please comment below!

I would greatly appreciate your participation. Your feedback is important to me, and I thank you in advance for your time and insights!

THANK YOU !
🙂

Basically everything that can be considered as traditional knowledge. There is no universal definition of that unfortunately. But more concentration is on the Expression of Folklore (dance, songs, handicraft etc) and traditional medicine. But even insights from the side of ontology would be very valuable!!

I am a medical- social anthropologist however. So, your study is too intense! Ethnomedicine is wider than you think. I suggest you to narrow the sense of the study can you bring here a least one specific objective?.

Do you need to go deeply to meet even the breakdown of tribal quantile? Let me see your questionnaire may be

If you or we use an essence of measuring rationality of our knowledge, we intact need to accept that some of our knowledge are toxic!. So demand for abolish them still yet remain as our priority (ies).

The question is why you need to measure/test if we need to keep hold them?

I can add thing over there... when we study about the knowledge( what you know - its ontology) , when we study about (where your knowledge come from its epistemology)

Its a good if you can identify what are the key features you use to make a cluster of the traditional knowledge example
1. Less detached to the modern/ superior science and technology
2. They most close to nature and contextual to surroundings
3. Not active agents of societal separations./good to unify the societal with same origin.
Etc
