Ripoti hii ya Mdhibiti na Mkaguzi Mkuu wa Hesabu huko nchini Kenya imebaini dosari kubwa za kifedha katika ajenda ya Rais Wiilliam Ruto ya "Hustlers Fund"
Kwa mujibu wa ripoti ya mwaka wa fedha 2023/2024, Hustler Fund imetoa hadi KSh 31 milioni (Tshs Milioni 628) kwa jumla ya wateja 253,717, ambao tarehe zao za kuzaliwa ziko kati ya Julai 1, 2024, na Desemba 31, 2073—tarehe za siku zijazo na wengine wakiwa ni watoto wachanga wasiozidi miezi minane.
Watu hawa wasiojulikana walipokea fedha hizo kupitia watoa huduma za simu za mkononi, ikiwemo Safaricom, Airtel, na Telkom.
Watumiaji wa Safaricom walipata sehemu kubwa ya fedha hizo, wakipokea KSh 24,588,216, huku watumiaji wa Airtel na Telkom wakipokea KSh 6,260,874 na KSh 286,600, mtawalia.
Aidha, ukaguzi huo umegundua kuwa wateja 1,377 waliokuwa na umri wa hadi miaka 10 walipokea mikopo ya jumla ya KSh 681,395 kutoka Hustler Fund.
A report from the Auditor General of President William Ruto's flagship government-backed financial inclusion initiative, the Hustler Fund, has uncovered shocking financial irregularities, raising serious concerns about the fund's data integrity and management practices.
According to the report for the fiscal year 2023/2024, Hustler Fund has disbursed up to KSh31 million to a total of 253,717 Kenyans or customers whose birthdates are between July 1, 2024, and December 31, 2073; a date that lies in the future; or infants less than eight months old.
These unknown people received the amounts through mobile service providers Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom.
Safaricom users accounted for the largest share, receiving KSh 24,588,216, while Airtel and Telkom users received KSh6,260,874 and KSh286,600, respectively.
In addition, the audit has found that some 1,377 underage customers, as young as 10 years old, had accessed Hustler Fund and, in total, received loans amounting to KSh681,395.
