Mount Kenya University has received a major boost after the Rwandan government agreed to grant charter to its Kigali campus. This decision is set to see the campus run as fully fledged university and also a relief to students who were compelled to travel all they way to Thika-Kenya for graduation. Speaking on Friday, October 5, in Kigali, Emmanuel Muvunyi, Rwanda's Higher Education Council (HEC) executive director said, the decision was informed by an extensive assessment. "Reference is made to the assessment that was conducted by a team constituted by Higher Education Council (HEC) to assess the readiness of MKU, Kigali, to change its status to proposed Mount Kenya International University of Technology.
I am therefore pleased to recommend the approval of change of status," said Muvunyi. Read more: Mt Kenya University to be granted charter in Rwanda
