Diamond Platnumz launched his first album in Nairobi, an event that had internationally acclaimed singer, Omarion perform as a surprise guest.
The launch saw Diamond’s family land in Nairobi, yup, including his step-dad. The night culminated with an exclusive after party that was held at B-club.
Diamond’s album launch also came with pleasant contract between him and Safaricom’s new music app Songa. Victoria Kimani was not pleased.

Victoria Kimani took to twitter to express her feels with a sarcastic jab saying,
“Shout out to all the Kenyan brands investing only in Foreign Artists/Personalities/Models etc …….. way to push our youth forward Thanks guys!”

One of the guys on her timeline told her to put more effort in her work of she wanted sponsors and Victoria Kimani wasn’t amused with that comment.

They’ve both got a point. While companies should sponsor local talent and assist another sector of business to grow, artistes should give their best and make it a worthwhile investment. Still, Victoria Kimani’s claim towards Safaricom is not fair; Safaricom has Groove Awards, Blaze, Songa, Jazz Festival, Skiza Tunes and even Michael Joseph Centre to help young people and artistes grow in the music industry.
Diamond is yet to comment and so is Safaricom, chances are, they’ll skip this one all together.
