SAWE is no more....!

Wana JF nasikitika kutangaza kifo cha ndugu yetu, mwanaharakati wa utunzaji misitu Ndg. Corodius Thomas Sawe kilichotokea usiku wa kuamkia jana pale Morogoro.

Kwa wasiomfahamu alikuwa ni Afisa Misitu, alifanya kazi Tanga Catchment Office, then alikuwa Conservator wa Amani Nature Reserve, na mpaka anafariki alikuwa ni Co-ordinator wa Nature Reserves Tanzania na pia component leader wa kuifanya Eastern Arc Mountains kuwa World Heritage Site. Pia alikuwa akikaimu ukuu katika project ya CMEAMF (Conservation and Management of Eastern Arc Mountains Forests).

Mungu ailaze roho yake mahali pema peponi.....Amin!

1. He worked in Tanga catchment during the EUCFP/EUCADP and EUCAMP periods (http://veli.pohjonen.org/usambara/). The he was with Dr. Felician Kilahama, Mr. Evarist Nashanda etc

2.He was the founding Conservator of the first nature reserve in the country (Amani Nature Reserve..http://www.amaninature.org/). He was the component leader for establishing more Nature Reserve, where he accomplished establishement of 3 more nature reserves including Uluguru, Nilo and Kilombero Nature Reserves

3. In 2008 he was promoted to be Co-ordinator of Nature Reserves to fundraise and empower operations of all nature reserves in Tanzania. He was spearheading establishment of 3 more nature reserves including Chome, Mt. Rungwe and Minziro (still in the process)

4. He was the Component leader for nomination of Eastern Arc Mountains as a World Heritage Site under UNESCO (the process is still underway)

5. The most important role was his being a member of that 'think tank in the Forest and Beekeepind Division'. Since he was the Conservator of Amani Nature Reserve (from 1997 to 2008) he became a member of the FBD think tank. Mention whatever strategic position or task that FBD had to take, his role was recognized.

yaah there you are.....he did his Diploma in Forestry there and also sometimes worked in ZOFOMO if not mistaken..!

Mwili wa marehemu ulikuwa bado unafanyiwa PM hapo Morogoro, once mambo yakikamilika atasafirishwa kwenda Tanga ambako ndio makazi yake yalipo kuwapa ndugu na jamaa fursa ya kuaga mara ya mwisho.

Then baada ya hapo, mwili utasafirishwa kwenda kijijini kwao Machame kwa Mazishi....!

Najua SAWE hatusikii wala hawezi kusoma humu, hivyo basi nawaombea faraja wote walioguswa na msiba huu. Fahamuni kwamba sisi wote tunaelekea alipotangulia sawe.

Umechangia kwa kiwango kikubwa katika taaluma ya misitu. Ulikuwa mstari wa mbele katika mchakato wa kuifanya Amani Nature Reserve iwe ni Biosphere Reserve.

RIP Mr. Sawe. Nakumbuka wafanyakazi wenzako walikuwa wanakuita Babu.

yap....sio Amani Nature Reserve tu bali East Usambara Biosphere Reserve in 2000
