The Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) - a policy research think tank in Tanzania, undertakes, and articulates research aiming at enhancing the understanding of policy options and development management. The mandate of ESRF also includes capacity development of intellectual resources of both producers and users of knowledge in Tanzania.

One of the areas of interest for capacity development by ESRF is on conducting scientific impact evaluation research and assessing the effectiveness of social programs. The IE Lab is funded by William & Flora Hewlett Foundation – a charitable institution based in the USA. Under the auspices of Impact Evaluation

Laboratory, during 2022, the ESRF intends to support the participation of up to fifteen (15) Tanzanian scholars in Micro Master’s Program in Data, Economics and Development Policy offered by Department of Economics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
