It is even more scary to Tanzania. Kumbuka production ya Kenya ni more than thrice ya Tanzania which in turn means wana mizigo mingi zaidi yetu. So if that is the case with their SGR, what will happen to ours?

Tuseme kwamba sio mkopo, reli kutoka Dar hadi mwanza ita gharamia usd10b. Kila mwaka TRA inakusanya $8b, mkitumia miaka 5 kujenga, inamaanisha kila mwaka $2b itatolewa kwenye TRA bila kuwekwa kwenye bajeti na miradi na mishahara zingine zilipwe? Na tunajua TZ currently inaomba budget support kutoka world bank. Does not make sense.

Uganda with all its exports is only 15% of mombasa port traffic. Very little cargo na yote haiwezi kupitia reli. SGR ya Tz haiwezi beba cargo mingi juu sio double stack and has lower tonnage capacity than Kenya SGR. So only around 120 containers per trip, Kenya does 235 per trip because of stacking, making it cheaper per trip. Mombasa to Nairobi currently carries more cargo than what Dar mwanza will carry if UG, Rwanda, Burundi uses it. But makes a loss, sasa ya Tz itapata faida kivipi?
Alafu bado hamna stima ya kutosha to run the whole railway juu miradi za stima bado hazija jengwa, so for many years capacity will be limited. Tz SGR ni white elephant....
