Six Kenyan companies are among 150 African businesses defying geographic, geopolitical, transportation and infrastructure barriers to drive economic integration of the continent.

Bidco, Safaricom , Tecno Brain, M-Kopa, Nation Media Group and Equity Bank are the Kenyan companies featured in a new report by The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Pioneering One Africa: African Corporations Trail-Blazing Across the Continent.

The report identifies 150 companies driving efforts towards an integrated Africa and eight ways (including innovativeness, connecting Africans by facilitating movements and investing in local talent) in which these companies are making an impact.

“If the past decade has demonstrated anything, it’s that these companies are masterful at overcoming adversity,” said Lisa Ivers, BCG Partner and co-author of the report.

“They have built impressive track records of creating value for themselves and advancing the development of the continent—and its many economies. They know that continuing to drive the integration of the African markets where they do business is one key way to pave the road to greater success.”

The six companies either operate in multiple African countries or their services are available in several markets in the continent.

Just like Safaricom is Vodafone subsidiary, Technobrain is Tanzanian, so pleeease stop claiming the company is Kenyan.

Manoj Shanker left Bangalore, India 16 years ago and started Techno Brain in Tz, but it's only in Kenya that his company grew to something worth of mention, and actually he has headquartered it in Nairobi.

"Manoj Shanker is the CEO of Techno Brain Group, a Nairobi-headquartered multinational offering IT solutions, training and business process outsourcing services to the private and public sectors. Started in Tanzania 16 years ago, Techno Brain is now operational in 24 countries in Africa, Asia, the US and Europe, with 1,600 employees. Shanker recently won the 2014 East Africa Entrepreneur of the Year award at CNBC Africa’s annual All Africa Business Leaders Awards (AABLA). Techno Brain was also named one of the 50 fastest-growing technology companies in Africa by professional services firm Deloitte."
