Somebody tell Odinga: Useless fighting an unrecognized enemy!

Odinga is in a tight space, a space lived by his father ages ago.

Odinga went into a ballot duel that he simply could not win.

The unrecognised enemy affecting all Kenyans is tribalism, and this has neither helped Odinga nor Kenyatta.

The problem plaquing Kenya , tribalism , is the enemy that is conveniently left undiscussed in ordinary day to day politics.

And the tribal numbers is what counts.
Break down tribal alliances in politics, and break down the differences as in Tanzania is what matters.
So Odinga will never win in an election based on tribal numbers, and thats because he represents the minority.

Odinga should recognize the enemy first and methodically know of ways to address the problem.

Defintly well said....infact from the word go Raila lost the election even before the votes were cast...going by the tribal myth Uhuroto had 7m plus votes add the umpredictable kisii t done deal.

To finish tribalism why not even ask Tanzanian goverment to assist n get to know ow dd Mwalimu bring this lovely big country together whereby ua tribe is not the ticket to state house...infact its only JPM who hails from one of the big tribes in the country.

That's a very wrong assumption. I think most Tanzanians do no understand the tribal nature of Kenyan politics. What the tribe does, is that it gives you a boost. The rest, you must fight for it yourself. You must appeal to people from different tribes. That is where Raila fails: he is toxic. Very toxic.

Naomba nitofautiane, in your country Kenya tribes matters a lot when it comes to politics. If you come from minority you'll never rise up no matter how bravely and hardly fought for yourself. That is why in this election result, the tension was in Kisumu and Kibera (and those area the fully armed police forces were positioned in these areas). There is no tension in Nyeri I think every one can guess why.

But I can see why one would choose Kenyatta over Odinga even if tribal alliances are not considered. Raila is a simpleton. Uhuru Kenyatta, while not a savant (he is actually a product of the same nepotism that produced Raila, robbing Kenyans of a meritocry) ...Uhuru right now is demonstrating how a president should handle a dissenting opposition. There is a little bit of "the grass is always greener on the other side" effect here. I know some Kenyans lament a lot, positively and rightly, about how Nyerere shaped Tanzania and clamped on tribalism. This is appropriate. There is a wave of Magufulimania amongst some Kenyans -PLO comes to mind, I can't stand that buffoon- but as of right now I wish Magufuli could act as presidential as Uhuru when it comes to respecting the oposition's constitutional right to assembly, freedom of expression etc.

Magufuli is acting like a power drunk maniac. A little bit of Uhuru-like sobriety to allow demonstrations and political assembly would go a long way. Uhuru is my favorite African president when it comes to this matter.

The two are aspects of good governance. Tribalism and clamping down unconstitutionally on opposition are not part of good governance.

there are two lines of ethnicity. The pro Luo and Kikuyu. those tribes you mentioned are one of those two noble tribes.
