Spying spouse

This is ridiculously absurd! How is it criminal to snoop on your spouse's email? Geeeez

We all need our privacy and space, It can be absurd and beyond craziness to go to jail for checking your spouse's email. But what happened to people's privacy? I do believe even if it involves husband and wife privacy is minimum or none in some issues. And by him checking her emails he violates her rights to privacy. Do I believe he deserves to go to jail for that NO, do I believe he needs to be punished in order serve purpose to the society YES
