Prayer is a mostly religious act, to which is done on an individual basis or group basis between persons, that is believed to stimulate connection and communication between a person and the spiritual being they worship. Nearly three in five American adults claim that they pray daily.

While many Americans imply that routine prayer is good; that it contributes to physical and mental healing, an unprecedented new study, conducted at the Wyoming Institute of Technology says otherwise.

"It is scientifically proven that prayer leads to a plethora of mental deficiencies," Dr. John Christian, PhD WIT, says. "When people pray, it is primarily for their own personal benefit, or for the benefit of those they are close to. What happens when those prayers go unanswered? The person feels betrayed, depressed, disappointed, anxious, fearful, etcetera."

Dr. Christian, who directed the study, says the notion of healing prayer is not only wrong, but it will lead to serious mental and physical ailments in those that choose to continue to participate in regular prayer.

In a five week long survey of 20,000 Americans; fifty percent of those who prayed daily, and fifty percent of those who do not to pray at all; Dr. Christian was able to determine that that those who do not pray were more mentally secure than those who do pray regularly.

Most of the study participants who do engage in spiritual prayer admitted that they do feel cheated when they don't see their prayers being answered. A small percent of those who pray believe that their prayers go unanswered because they might not necessarily fit into "God's plan" for them.

Dr. Christian determined that a large percentage of those who pray suffer from severe cases of depression, usually have suicidal thoughts and tendencies, and generally feel as though they've been rejected by their faith.

The participants who decline use of prayer are discernibly happier, more optimistic, and comparatively have a more positive outlook on life. A vast amount of these participants stated that they prefer to live a life of a lesser expectation, since it helps them to avoid inevitable disappointment. These individuals appeared to possess a more realistic and logical mindset as compared to those who pray.

In conclusion, Dr Christian was able to establish that persons who do not pray are overall healthier and more mentally stable than those who do. He recommends to those who pray daily reduce or completely eliminate the amount of time they spend praying, so that they can achieve total contentment and clarity of mind.

Science and religion are always and Will always be at loggerheads! I don't dispute the findings of this scientific research. However, I believe that a man should be exposed to both science and religion and therefore find a nice way of dealing with them independently without mixing them
. Science has been and will always be very useful to our lives, but as humans, I think most of us
cannot afford to ignore prayer as its also important in
our lives

Definitely mkuu.

There are situations of which science has literally failed to give people answers to various problems! So undermining prayer and assuming that science is superior to any other thing is not very appropriate. Stephen hawking was diagnosed with this fatal disease in 1963 and was given two years to live but the smart guy is still alive to date.what was wrong with science that it made wrong predictions. So let science and prayer co exist side by side for the benefit of our communities

I can bodly testify that this is satan's work. Unathubutu vipi kusema prayer is harmful? Nimeomba rehema kwa ajili ya huyo possessed dokta. Nimeomba akutane na nguvu ya Mungu ili aje kutestify kuwa prayer zimemponya
