Kenyatta University has finally shut down its Arusha and Kigali campuses following a directive by the Ministry of Education.

In July last year, then-Education CS Fred Matiang'i ordered the university to close its two diaspora to consolidate resources.
Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuat) was also affected by Matiang'i order over its two campuses in Arusha and in Kigali.
The move came after the Tanzanian Commission for Universities (TCU) blocked both KU and Jkuat from admitting students, on grounds that they did not "meet standards".
