Job Summary:
Horizons College of Learning and Enrichment is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Swahili Teacher to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Swahili language skills and integrating cultural education into the curriculum. This role requires a passion for language education and a commitment to fostering an engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction and Curriculum Development:
- Design and deliver engaging lesson plans that cover Swahili grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and conversation.
- Develop and implement curriculum materials that meet educational standards and address the diverse needs of students.
- Student Engagement:
- Create an interactive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through various methods including assignments, tests, and oral presentations.
- Cultural Education:
- Introduce students to Swahili culture, history, and traditions through relevant lessons and activities.
- Organize cultural events, projects, and guest speaker sessions to enhance students' cultural understanding.
- Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior and academic performance.
- Address classroom issues and disciplinary matters effectively and fairly.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with educational practices and language instruction techniques.
- Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions as required.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress reports.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic performance and any concerns.
- Collaborative Efforts:
- Work with other educators to integrate Swahili language instruction across various subjects.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives and committees as needed.

- Skills:
- Proficiency in Swahili with strong command of grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to design and implement engaging lesson plans.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.

### Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Swahili, Linguistics, Education, or a related field. A master’s degree or additional certification in language instruction is preferred.
- Experience: Prior teaching experience in Swahili or a related language, especially in a formal educational setting.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in Swahili with strong command of grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to design and implement engaging lesson plans.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
