SADC has urged Rwanda and Uganda to consider engaging all the negative forces in a quest for a lasting political solution in the Great Lakes Region.
The call was extended at the Extraodinary Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the SADC held in Maputo on Saturday, 15 June, 2013. "The summit noted that there is need for engagement among all political stakeholders in the DRC to find a lasting solution for peace, security and stability," a joint communique issued at the end of the talks said.
It further commended efforts by the Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to facilitate the ongoing peace talks between the DRC and M23 rebels.
